An Old Inn on a Hirosaki Street
Ishiba Ryokan (石場旅館) is a traditional inn of 1879 in Motoderamachi, Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on February 23, 2012 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a two-storey timber building with a sheet-iron roof and a building area of 456 square metres, extended in the mid-Meiji period and altered in about 1955 and in 1970.
Two Staggered Wings of an Old Inn
Ishiba Ryokan stands on the west side of the street, a two-storey inn entered from the gable end, made of two east-west hip-and-gable wings set in a staggered line (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The southern wing comes forward with the entrance and front desk and a storehouse behind; the northern wing holds the hall and guest rooms.
