The High District Reservoir
The Kiryu City Waterworks Bureau High District Distribution Reservoir (桐生市水道局高区配水池) is a reinforced concrete distribution reservoir of 1932 on the hill at Tsutsumi-cho, Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture, which in 1997 was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs records a width of 21.6 metres and a length of 24.2 metres, owned by Kiryu City and registered for its contribution to the historic landscape.
The Agency places it north of the former distribution office.
Structure
According to the Agency, it measures 21.6 by 24.2 metres and is 4.5 metres deep, similar in form to the regulating reservoir of the Motojuku plant and the low district reservoir.
What to Look For
The Agency notes that Kiryu is unusual in keeping a complete set of early Showa facilities from the Motojuku plant to the high and low districts; the high district reservoir is one part of that system.
