A side entrance on the east
The Kusaka Family Residence East Gate (日下家住宅東門, Kusaka-ke Jūtaku Higashimon) in Hibarigaoka, Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, is the side entrance with iron doors on the east side of the plot, made in the Showa 20s, around and just after the end of the Second World War; it was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on March 29, 2019 (number 28-706). It stands toward the south end of the east side of the plot.
The Kusaka Family Residence East Gate is the everyday service entrance and forms part of the front garden. It is the newest of the three registered gates, later than the early Showa front and middle gates.
Crazy-paved posts and iron doors
The Kusaka Family Residence East Gate is concrete, with square posts 1.2 metres high set 1.3 metres apart and a pair of iron doors. The posts are faced with irregular crazy-paving stone, and the ground inside and outside the gate is paved with the same stone.
Part of the streetscape
The Agency for Cultural Affairs notes that the Kusaka east gate, together with the garden trees, is part of the streetscape of the neighbourhood. Like the front and middle gates it is concrete, but it takes yet another finish, and the three gates each have their own character.
Visiting
The Kusaka Family Residence East Gate faces the street on the east side of the plot and can be seen from the road. Beyond it is a private home, so do not enter, linger or look in.
