A Corner Town House in Daigo
The Daigo Cafe Shop and Main House (大子カフェ店舗兼主屋) is a corner town house combining shop and home of 1916 in Daigo, Daigo Town, Kuji District, Ibaraki Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on February 25, 2016 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a two-storey timber building, partly single-storey, with an iron-sheet roof and a building area of 90 square metres, renovated in 2013; registration number 08-0283.
A Railed Upper Floor and Exposed Roof Beams
The Daigo Cafe shop-house is a town house of 1916 on a corner plot facing north onto a street on the north side of the town centre (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The northern half, a two-storey gabled block, was the shop, and the southern half, a single-storey hipped block, was the home.
On the east gable of the shop, the upper floor has glazed doors and a railing, with its roof beams shown as a design feature, and the Agency calls it a town house that brightens the street.
