A Modern Townhouse on a Corner
Akatsukiya stands on a north-west corner plot: a two-storey timber townhouse under a tiled gabled roof, entered on the long west side, with a lean-to kitchen and bath projecting at the back (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The north side wall is clapboarded.
The three-bay front has a lean-to canopy, with the door in the northern bay and projecting lattices across the other two (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Upstairs, the middle two bays also carry projecting lattices.
