Zuihoin Temple
Zuihoin Temple (瑞峯院), a sub-temple of Daitokuji in Murasakino Daitokujicho, Kita Ward, Kyoto City, has a main hall and front gate built between 1536 and 1555, each designated an Important Cultural Property on June 21, 1962 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Main Hall and Front Gate
The main hall, hip-and-gable with a cypress-bark roof, is an example of the late medieval abbot's-quarters form, and the gabled front gate, also roofed in cypress bark, shows the character of its age (Agency for Cultural Affairs). According to the Kyoto Tourist Information Center, the temple has two dry gardens made by Shigemori Mirei in the Showa period, Dokuzatei and Kanmintei.
Each building is described on its own page.
