A Japanese-Style Town Hall of 1933
The Former Ikoma Town Hall (旧生駒町役場庁舎) is a town hall of 1933 in Yamasakicho, Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on April 28, 2010 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a single-storey timber building with a two-storey storehouse part, roofed in tile and partly sheet metal, covering 533 square metres, altered in 1958; registration number 29-0187.
A U-Shaped Timber Town Hall
The Former Ikoma Town Hall faces east onto the prefectural road between Ikoma and Nara in the city centre (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It is a single-storey timber building on a U-shaped plan with a 24-metre front, with a storehouse and other parts behind.
Clad in weatherboards, it uses traditional motifs for its brackets and gable ornament, and shows hip-and-gable fronts at the centre and both ends, giving it a dignified presence (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
