How a Waterless Island Caught Its Bath
Just south of the old Shimosaka bathing room on Kitadaitō Island lies a broad, gently sloping apron of concrete. Approach from the bathing room and the logic clicks into place. The sloping floor reads almost like a shallow stage, tilted so that rain ran toward the tanks rather than away. The concrete has cracked and greened with age, which only makes the engineering easier to read.
