Shiga University Hikone Campus
The Shiga University Hikone Campus (滋賀大学彦根キャンパス) in Banba, Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, beside the western moat of Hikone Castle, is home to the Faculty of Economics and to two Registered Tangible Cultural Properties: the auditorium of 1924 of the former Hikone Higher Commercial School and the Ryosui Hall of 1938 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The faculty grew out of the Hikone Higher Commercial School; the auditorium was built for that school and the Ryosui Hall as its alumni hall (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Two Buildings
The auditorium, designed by the building section of the Ministry of Education, is a two-storey timber hall with a lecture hall attached, clapboarded and crowned by semicircular dormers and a small tower (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It was registered on April 24, 2001.
The Ryosui Hall, designed by Vories, is a timber building of two storeys, partly one, in the Spanish style, with pale cream walls and a Spanish tile roof (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It was registered on May 7, 1997. Each building is described on its own page.
Visiting
Both are owned by Shiga University (Agency for Cultural Affairs). No official information on campus visits or access to the buildings was found.
