A Middle School Auditorium
Inasa Kaikan was built in 1902 as the auditorium of a prewar middle school, Shimane Prefectural Third Middle School (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Its sash windows and clapboard walls give it the look of the Western-inspired giyofu style.
Why It Was Registered
The Agency registered it for its contribution to the historic landscape.
Moved with the Old Porch
Inasa Kaikan was moved to its present site in 1980. The entrance porch of the old school building, pulled down at the same time, was built into it, so that it is kept and used as a whole in memory of the school (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
