A Western House on Yamagata's Farm
The Yamagata Aritomo Memorial Hall Annex (山縣有朋記念館別館) is a Western-style house on the farm opened by Yamagata Aritomo of around 1927 in Kamiisano, Yaita City, Tochigi Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on October 14, 2021 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a two-storey timber building with a tiled roof and a building area of 128 square metres, renovated in 1989; registration number 09-0264.
Dormers and a Pergola Porch
The annex of the Yamagata Aritomo Memorial Hall is a Western-style house of around 1927 on the farm opened by Yamagata Aritomo (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Two storeys, hipped and pantiled, it has dormer windows on its south front, a porch with a pergola, and sash and casement windows.
The living room inside has a bay window and a fireplace, wainscoted walls and a ceiling showing its beams, a formal Western room (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The Agency calls it an elegant Western house standing on a vast farm.
