The Newest Storehouse on the Site
The Shiotani Teiko Photography Memorial Museum New Storehouse (塩谷定好写真記念館新蔵) is a two-storey storehouse built in 1902 in Akasaki, Kotoura Town, Tottori Prefecture, which in 2015 was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs places it on the south edge of the site, facing the main house across the garden. It has an east-west ridge and a pantile roof framed with sloping rafters, and covers 23 square metres.
Kotoura Town describes it as set at right angles to the pawn storehouse. The town's page gives its date as "Meiji 35 (1879)", but Meiji 35 corresponds to 1902, the year the Agency records.
Why It Was Registered
The Agency identifies the New Storehouse as the newest of the storehouses surviving on the site and reads it as evidence of how the household filled out its compound. It arrived 30 years after the rice storehouse of 1872.

The doorway of the Shiotani Teiko Photography Memorial Museum New Storehouse is on the north side, facing the main house, with double doors under a small roof.
The walls are plastered above and finished below with namako-kabe, square tiles set in raised plaster joints. The contrast between the tiled base and the white upper wall is what you see across the garden. Inside, the Agency notes, the walls are lined with vertical boards.
