Johana Iori
Johana Iori (the former Nakatani family house) is a townhouse in Johana, Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, whose main house of around 1905 and storehouse of the mid Meiji period were registered as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties on November 17, 2015 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
It stands in the temple town of Zentokuji, the Johana Betsuin. The main house was altered around 1950 and moved here in 2001 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Two Buildings
The main house faces the street, a two-storey timber townhouse 3 and a half bays wide with a passage on the right and three 8-mat rooms on the left; its rising bracketed eaves, thick-board pent roof and upper wing walls are typical of the area (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The storehouse, a two-storey storehouse in the south-east corner of the plot, has door and window frames in the shape of a torii gate and adds character to a lane of the temple town (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Each is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property and is covered on its own page.
