A Large Farmhouse North-West of Yokote
The Toda Family Residence (戸田家住宅) is the main house of a large farm of around 1916 in Kurokawa, Yokote City, Akita Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on February 17, 1999 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a single-storey timber building with a sheet-iron roof and a building area of 302 square metres; registration number 05-0041.
A Farmhouse with Two Entrances
The Toda Family Residence is a large farmhouse on a riverside plot north-west of central Yokote (Agency for Cultural Affairs). At the west end of the front is a formal entrance under a gently curved gable, and at the east end an entrance to the earth-floored work area under a plain gable.
Inside the formal entrance is an earthen-floored veranda, and a veranda runs round the formal rooms on the west side (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Lean-to roofs on all four sides give the house a tidy outline; the Agency records the name of its master carpenter.
