The Former Yagi Shoten Main Store Front Wall (旧八木商店本店表塀) is a roofed wall of 1918 in Hashihama, Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, entered on the national register as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (Structure) on October 14, 2021. Built of wood with a tiled roof, it runs 28 meters in total, extending south along the road from the end of the shop and separating the grounds from the street.
Posts stand at intervals of half a Ken, braced from behind with iron rods to keep the structure from leaning. The lower part is boarded, the upper part is clay-rendered, and openings are cut through the wall at the height where a transom would sit. The roof carries Sangawara-buki pantiles, the same tiles used on the buildings, so from the street the Former Yagi Shoten Main Store Front Wall and the house behind it read as one continuous frontage.
This is not simply a boundary. The Agency for Cultural Affairs describes the wall as forming the street front of a merchant who grew rich from crab factory ships. Of the six registered structures on the property, it is the only one a passer-by can take in from end to end without going inside.

Registration came under the criterion for structures contributing to the historic character of the national landscape, as register number 38-0161, in the hundredth round on October 14, 2021, with the shop, reception room, residence wing, inner storehouse and detached wing. Its address is 406-2 Hashihama 2-chome and other lots, a separate parcel from the other five.
A wall qualifies as a registered structure because it carries part of the townscape. The criterion values a continuous street elevation, not only the quality of an individual building, and this wall preserves the way the property presented itself to the roads of Hashihama.

Museum visits are by advance reservation as a rule, and admission is 1,000 yen per person. The museum closes on Sundays, Mondays and public holidays, and the telephone line (0898-41-5101) is answered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on open days. Eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted inside the buildings or the garden, and room hire involving photography is arranged case by case. No restriction is stated on photographing the wall from the road, though the pavement is narrow enough to warrant care.
Hashihama Station on the JR Yosan Line is about a 15 minute walk to the south, and buses toward Hashihama run from in front of Imabari Station. A car park stands north of the museum entrance. The lane beside the wall is a residential street, so it is better not to stop a car there.
