Kamiyuge Tasaka Family Residence
The Kamiyuge Tasaka Family Residence (上弓削田坂家住宅) in Yuge Kamiyuge, Kamijima Town, Ehime Prefecture, is a house of 1917 in a port town on the west coast of Yuge Island; its main house, storehouse and gate and wall were registered as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties on March 29, 2019 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Three Structures
The main house stands in the middle of the plot facing north, a hip-and-gable house with a low upper floor, an earth-floored area to the west and four rooms to the east, carrying on the farmhouse type of the Inland Sea islands. The board-clad storehouse is joined to the kitchen wing at the back, and the gate and wall are a gabled gate in the middle of the north side with an earthen wall enclosing the front garden (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The Agency notes that together with the house they form the historic streetscape of the port. Each is described on its own page.
