A Storehouse-Style Clinic with Plaster Pediments

Fireproof Storehouse Walls and Western Plasterwork
The Inoue Dental Clinic stands north of the Sosha shrine in the centre of Echizen City and was built after the great fire of 1903 (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It is built in the fire-resistant storehouse manner but given a Western-style exterior.
The plasterwork around the entrance, with Tuscan pilasters and segmental pediments, is attributed to the plasterer Isurugi Yoshijiro, and the master carpenter was a local man, Takura Totaro (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
