The Yoshizaki Gobo Rennyo Shonin Memorial Museum Nanafushigido Main House (吉崎御坊蓮如上人記念館七不思議堂主屋) is a large farmhouse of the Etchu type of 1881 in Yoshizaki, Awara City, Fukui Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on August 13, 2012 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

A Big Farmhouse Facing the Lake

The Yoshizaki Gobo Rennyo Shonin Memorial Museum Nanafushigido Main House stands at the centre of a site facing Lake Kitagata, its front to the east (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It dates from 1881 and was moved to its present place in 1979. The gable end forms the entrance front, under a tiled roof wrapped by lean-to eaves on all sides.

Inside, a 28-mat hall with a massive timber frame sits at the centre, surrounded by finely finished reception rooms (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The Agency describes it as a large example of the azumadachi farmhouse of Etchū, the old province that is now Toyama.

Why It Was Registered

The Agency registered it as a model of design, a large building that clearly shows the features of the Etchū azumadachi farmhouse.

What to Look For

Look for the gabled front facing east and the heavy timber frame over the 28-mat hall (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
