A Seaside Inn That Grew with the Bathers
The Former Tamanoi Ryokan (旧玉乃井旅館) is a seaside inn of 1909, extended around 1934 and in 1962, altered in 2021 in Tsuyazaki, Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on March 13, 2025 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a two-storey timber building with a tiled roof, covering 322 square metres; registration number 40-0237.
A Former Inn on Tsuyazaki Beach
The Former Tamanoi Ryokan is a former inn on the east side of Tsuyazaki beach, a two-storey pantiled building facing east onto the street, with its entrance at the north-east corner (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
On each floor a central corridor runs east-west between guest rooms. Upstairs to the south-west, a suite of tatami rooms looks out to sea across a wide veranda with a continuous run of windows. Repeated extensions added more rooms (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The Agency registered it for its contribution to the historic landscape, an inn extended again and again for more rooms that recalls the busy days of sea bathing.
