A Taisho-Era Clinic among Takayama's Townhouses

The Former Suda Dental Clinic is a combined clinic and house on the right bank of a small river that runs through central Takayama (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Set back a little from the road and facing east, it is a two-storey timber building with a hipped roof, entered on the long side, with the entrance projecting in the middle of the east front.
The walls are clad in weatherboards, with tall double-casement windows on the south and east (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Inside, the ground floor is Western in style and the upper floor Japanese.
