A Suburban House of the Early Showa Period

A Former House Now the YWCA Hall
The Hakodate YWCA Hall was built as a private house: a timber building, partly two-storeyed, with a steel roof and an asymmetrical exterior (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The walls are clapboarded, except for pilasters and lattice-like decoration high on the gables as accents. The canopy over the front door follows a gentle reverse curve (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
