A Riverside Inn Designed by Hirata Masaya

The Shinkameya Main Building is a three-storey timber inn on the riverbank at Kinosaki Onsen, designed by Hirata Masaya (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Eaves run around the front between the floors, and small triangular gables over the entrance to the east of the ground floor and to the west of the first floor give the front its order.

Horizontal windows with fine lattices flank the entrance, and inside, the straight-lined, refined decoration of the guest rooms is enlivened by vermilion-lacquered shelves (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Why It Was Registered

The Agency registered it as a model of design, a building that shows something of Hirata Masaya's style.
