It is not a building with walls and a roof but an open-air work area: granite wells, granite paving and drainage channels. There are two of them, set as a pair at the north and south ends of the work yard in front of the East Koji Storehouse.
The northern one measures 6.5 by 4.3 meters and the southern one 3.6 by 2.8 meters, giving areas of 28 and 10 square meters. For the listing, the two are treated together as the single Yamasan Soy Sauce Washing Area.
Why the Washing Area Was Listed
