A Sukiya-Style House below Odawara Castle
The Seikantei (清閑亭) is a Japanese house in the sukiya manner of the early Taisho era (1912–1925) in Minamicho, Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on July 12, 2005 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a timber building of one storey, partly two, with a tiled roof and a building area of 276 square metres; registration number 14-0118.
A Staggered House in the Sukiya Manner
Seikantei stands on the hill south of the Odawara Castle site (Agency for Cultural Affairs). A single-storey main block with a hip-and-gable tiled roof is joined to a two-storey east wing, so that the whole spreads east to west in a staggered plan.
A copper-roofed canopy runs the full length of the south side, tying the exterior together, and the interior is carefully finished in the sukiya manner (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
