Rakurakuso
Rakurakuso (楽々荘) in Kitamachi, Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture, is a residence of about 1898 built as the home of Tanaka Gentaro, who sat in both the House of Representatives and the House of Peers (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Its Western-style building, Japanese-style building and entrance were registered as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties on June 12, 1997. It is owned by Komyo Culture and Arts Co., Ltd.

The Three Buildings
The Western-style building, designed and built by Shimizu-gumi, is a two-storey brick house, partly timber, with verandas on the east and south and a different floor and fireplace in each room. The single-storey Japanese-style building, said to have held the rooms of the master and his wife, has a double roof and finely crafted alcoves and shelves. The entrance, south-west of the Western building and linked by a corridor to the Japanese wing, has a formal shikidai step and a deliberately small gable (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Each is described on its own page.
