The Front of a Sake Brewery
The Sasaiwai Sake Brewery Office Building (笹祝酒造事務所棟) is the office building of a sake brewery of about 1901 in Matsunoo, Nishikan Ward, Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on August 6, 2025 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a two-storey timber building of 285 square metres with a tiled roof, extended in the late Meiji era and in 1919; registration number 15-0604.
The Brewery's Street Front
The office building stands just north of the family's main house, facing the old highway to the west (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It is a two-storey timber building under pantiles, presenting a large gable and a half-hipped gable to the street, with a lean-to roof below.
The ground floor holds a large shop, a testing room and offices, while the U-shaped upper floor has a row of tatami rooms, including quarters for the master brewer (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
