A Hexagonal Brick Chimney of 1922
The Takahashi Sake Brewery Chimney (高橋酒造煙突, Takahashi Shuzō Entotsu) is a brick chimney of about 1922 standing on its own near the southeast corner of the new brewery of Takahashi Sake Brewery at Jizo, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, and registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on November 29, 2006 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency for Cultural Affairs records a brick chimney 20 metres high; registration number 15-0236, owned by Takahashi Shuzo Co., Ltd.
Why It Was Registered

What to Look For
It is hexagonal in plan, 1.2 metres to a side, and about 20 metres high. Near the top, corbelled brickwork forms a decorative ring, and special dark-ended bricks are used at the outer corners (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
Nagaoka City's web magazine notes that the brand name Choryo written on the chimney catches the eye as you cross the Suyoshi River.
