A Steel Lookout at the Kyobashi Bridge

The Former Kyobashi Fire Watchtower (旧京橋火の見櫓) is a steel alarm-bell tower at the west end of the Kyobashi bridge of 1924 in Kyobashicho, Kita Ward, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on March 27, 2006 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The Agency records a steel structure 21 metres high; registration number 33-0106.

Four Angle-Steel Legs and a Pyramid-Roofed Lookout

The former Kyobashi fire watchtower is a 21-metre steel alarm-bell tower at the west end of the Kyobashi bridge over the Asahi River, east of central Okayama (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Four legs of angle steel are joined by cross members braced with ring turnbuckles, and at the top sits a square lookout under a pyramidal iron-plate roof (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The Agency notes that it is a focus of the historic local scene and well loved by residents.

Visiting

It is owned by Okayama City (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It stands at the west end of the Kyobashi bridge; no official information on access to the tower itself was found.
