An Elevated Concrete Reservoir of 1933
The Okutsu Power Station Regulating Reservoir (奥津発電所調整池) is a reinforced concrete regulating reservoir of 1933 for a power station at Okutsu-Kawanishi, Kagamino Town, Tomata District, Okayama Prefecture, which in 2006 was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs records an area of 9,499 square metres, owned by Chugoku Electric Power and registered as a structure not easily reproduced.
The Agency places it about 4.2 kilometres downstream of the No. 4 aqueduct bridge.
Structure
According to the Agency, it is a large elevated reinforced concrete structure, long from north to south, covering 9,499 square metres.
Its floor rests on columns set in a 3-metre grid, and its outer walls, sloping at 45 degrees, are braced by buttresses linked with horizontal beams, an unusual method of construction.
