A Brick Warehouse of the Kurashiki Mill

The Torajiro Kojima Memorial Museum (児島虎次郎記念館) is a former brick product warehouse of 1906 in Honmachi, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on December 11, 1998 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The Agency records a two-storey brick building with a tiled roof and a building area of 792 square metres; registration number 33-0026.

A Warehouse of the Spinning Mill

The building registered as the Torajiro Kojima Memorial Museum was built as a product warehouse of the Kurashiki spinning mill and stands at the north-west corner of the mill site (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It is a U-shaped brick warehouse of five storage bays, striking for the bold frames around its entrances.

Its roof is carried on timber trusses, more refined than those of the Kurashiki Boseki Memorial Hall (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Why It Was Registered

The Agency registers this brick warehouse, built for the Kurashiki spinning mill, for its contribution to the historic landscape as a reminder of a modern spinning works.

It is owned by Kurabo Industries (Agency for Cultural Affairs). A museum of the same name now appears to operate in a different building, and no official information on access to this building was found.
