An International Style Office on the Tosabori River
Riverside Building (リバーサイドビルディング) is a riverside office building of 1965 in Nakanoshima, Kita Ward, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on November 29, 2016 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a reinforced-concrete building of five storeys and a basement with a rooftop structure and a building area of 175 square metres; registration number 27-0648.
Borrowing from Expressway Structures
The Riverside Building is a long, narrow office building facing the Tosabori River (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It is said to borrow from the structure of elevated expressways: the structural walls are gathered together so that windows can run the full length of the front and back, a clear and simple arrangement.
The end walls are decorated with patterned tilework (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
