United Church of Christ in Japan Minakuchi Church

The United Church of Christ in Japan Minakuchi Church (日本キリスト教団水口教会) in Minakuchicho Joto, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, has two Registered Tangible Cultural Properties: a chapel designed by the Vories architectural office and built in 1930, and brick gateposts of the same year (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Both were registered on April 28, 2000.

The Two Properties

The chapel is a plain single-storey timber church with a Latin-cross outline whose main ridge runs north to south; the entrance is in the eastern half of the south gable end, and the east-west transept serves as the sanctuary (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The gateposts stand on the south edge of the site in line with the chapel entrance, 1.5 metres high, with low brick walls on either side (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Each is described on its own page.

Visiting

The church owns both (Agency for Cultural Affairs). No official information on visiting or attending services was found.
