The Original Platform and a Later Shelter

This is the platform built when the station opened, with a shelter added later (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The island platform, faced at the sides with squared stone, consists of a platform 50 metres long and a ramp at its west end.

According to Fuji City's newsletter, the line between Yoshiwara-honcho and Yoshiwara stations opened in November 1950, and the station was renamed Honyoshiwara in January 1956.

Why It Was Registered

The Agency notes the inventive shelter, whose frame of bent steel-tube brackets, posts and roof arches is welded into a mushroom shape, and says it is well loved by local people; it was registered as a model of design.
