A Small Log-Built Storehouse

A Storehouse Moved to Ueno
The Former Jurin-in Treasure House is a small storehouse of interlocking timbers that once belonged to the temple of Jūrin-in, and now stands in the grounds of the Tokyo National Museum (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It is a single bay square, its walls built of stacked timbers, under a pyramidal roof of hongawara tiles.
The Agency dates it to the early Kamakura period. In this azekura form, timbers close to triangular in section are laid horizontally to make the walls, the same family of building as the treasure house of the Shōsōin.
