A Fireproof Archive in a City Park
The Former Mitsui Bunko Second Stacks (旧三井文庫第二書庫) is a stack building for the Mitsui family archives of 1922 in Yutakacho, Shinagawa City, Tokyo, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on April 3, 2020 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a three-storey reinforced concrete building with a metal roof and a building area of 130 square metres, altered in 1926; registration number 13-0430.
A Fireproof Store with Double Walls
The former Mitsui Bunko Second Stacks stand in Bunko no Mori, a park of Shinagawa City, and were built to keep the archives of the Mitsui family (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The building has double reinforced concrete bearing walls, with concrete slabs for every floor including the ground floor and for the third-floor ceiling, a sturdy design with excellent fire resistance.
