The Rooms Where the Lords of Kii Stayed
The Former Hashimoto Honjin Ikenaga Family Residence Detached Guest Wing (旧橋本本陣池永家住宅離座敷) is a late Edo single-storey timber guest wing at the back of the former Hashimoto honjin in Hashimoto City, Wakayama Prefecture, which in 1998 was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs records a tiled roof and a building area of 96 square metres; it was registered as a structure that would not be easy to reproduce.
Wakayama Prefecture notes that the lords actually stayed here and dates it to around 1803.
Structure
According to the Agency, it stands at the back of the site facing the Kinokawa River, with four main rooms, including a north room and an upper room, and a bath and privy reached by a corridor.
A separate corridor links it to the main house. Records show it was used as the honjin, and its interior is of high quality.
What to Look For
The prefecture praises its exceptionally fine workmanship, worthy of a honjin. Tokugawa Shigenori, eighth lord of Kii, stayed here in 1805, and other lords stayed several times.
Set on the river side away from the road, with its own bath and privy reached by corridors, it shows how a honjin received a daimyo.

It is a private residence, and no official information on interior access could be found.
