Kodaiin Temple
Kodaiin is a special head temple of the Shingon school on Koyasan, Koya Town, Wakayama Prefecture, whose tahoto pagoda of 1917 and sutra repository of 1927 were registered as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties on December 3, 2024 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Two Buildings
The pagoda stands on an artificial hill in the garden; with four-stepped brackets above and chrysanthemum crests on its struts, it is a finely made pagoda worthy of a celebrated temple (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The sutra repository, west of the approach, is a log-built azekura store facing east on a cut-stone base under a pyramidal copper roof (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Each is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property and is covered on its own page.
