A Showa Gate with a Cusped Gable

The Enmyoji Temple Main Gate (圓明寺山門) is a four-legged gate by Ito Heizaemon of 1937 in Inuyama, Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on August 13, 2012 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The Agency records a timber gate 2.5 metres wide with a copper roof; registration number 23-0355.

Tie Beams and Frog-Leg Struts in Two Tiers

The gate of Enmyoji is a four-legged gate at the south front of the precinct, 2.5 metres by 2.1 metres, with a gabled copper roof and a cusped gable over the front eaves (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The main posts are round and the rear posts square with moulded corners, and the front is richly decorated with tie beams and frog-leg struts in two tiers (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It is a gate of fine materials and workmanship by the carpenter Ito Heizaemon.
