Kankyo Mirin
Kankyo Mirin (甘強味淋) in Shiro, Kanie Town, Ama District, Aichi Prefecture, is the mirin works of Kankyo Shuzo Co., Ltd. on the Kanie River; its former head office of 1937 and its factory of 1877 were registered as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties on November 10, 2005 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The Two Buildings
The former head office, facing west onto the Kanie River, is a three-storey reinforced-concrete building that shows only two storeys on the river side because it stands against the embankment; with scratch-tile walls, a cornice and a terracotta-framed entrance, it is a fine example of a provincial office building (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The factory, on the east of the site, is a U-shaped two-storey works with earthen storehouse walls; begun with the north range, it reached its present form with additions in 1906 and 1913, and its rows of high windows show how a traditional industry grew (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Each building is described on its own page.
