Rooms Opened Wide to the Garden

A Hall Wing Open to the Garden
The hall wing of the Ryotei Sato villa joins the back of the entrance wing to the east: a single-storey timber building under a hip-and-gable roof, with an 8-mat and a 15-mat room set in echelon (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
Each room has an alcove of choice timber, and the 15-mat room a built-in desk. Fewer posts on the garden side and glazed transom screens all round tie the rooms closely to the garden (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
