A Village-Funded Stone Arch Bridge on the Hoshino River
The Yoriguchi Bridge (寄口橋) is a stone arch road bridge of 1920, altered in 1970 in Kitakawauchi, Joyomachi, Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on August 7, 2023 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a two-span stone arch bridge 44 metres long and 6.6 metres wide; registration number 40-0215.
A Two-Span Stone Arch on the Hoshino River
The Yoriguchi Bridge is a road bridge over the middle reaches of the Hoshino River, part of the Yabe River system: a two-span stone arch of welded tuff, 44 metres long with spans of 17 metres (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
Coursed spandrel walls rise above segmental arches, and a sheathing wall of stone protects the right-bank end. It was built with village funds and donations from local people (Agency for Cultural Affairs). About 500 metres downstream stands the three-span Oze Bridge, registered on the same day.
