The single-story partner of the north storehouse
Kamotsuru Sake Brewery No. 1 Brewhouse South Storehouse (賀茂鶴酒造一号蔵南土蔵, Kamotsuru Shuzō Ichigōgura Minamidozō) is a single-story Dozo-zukuri earthen storehouse from the early Meiji period (1868 to 1882) on the founding site of Kamotsuru Sake Brewery in Saijo Honmachi, Higashihiroshima City, registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on June 28, 2017.
It stands immediately south of the north storehouse, gable-end to the west like its neighbor, and measures 7.7 meters by 5.3 meters, with a building area of 41 square meters.
Alike, but not identical
The roof is gabled with the entrance in the gable end (Tsumairi) and covered in pantiles, over a Japanese Wagoya frame. The agency describes the design as almost the same as the north storehouse, only a little larger.
The figures show where. Its length, 7.7 meters, is almost the same as the north storehouse's 7.6 meters, but at 5.3 meters against 4.1 meters it is more than 1 meter wider. And where the north storehouse has two floors, the Kamotsuru Sake Brewery No. 1 Brewhouse South Storehouse has one: broader and lower, so the two gables side by side differ in roof pitch and eave height.
