An Open Bell Tower of the Meiji Era
The Shogyoji Temple Bell Tower (正行寺鐘楼) is a bell tower of 1908 in Baika, Akkeshi Town, Akkeshi District, Hokkaido, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on August 7, 2009 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a timber bell tower with a copper roof and an area of 7.5 square metres, altered in 1923 and 2008; registration number 01-0103.
An Open Bell Tower One Bay Square
The Shogyoji Bell Tower stands northwest of the north-facing main hall, its ridge running north-south: an open bell tower one bay square under a hip-and-gable copper roof (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Chamfered square posts lean inward on all four sides and are tied by several tiers of tie beams and a top plate.
Three-block brackets carry the roof, with frog-leg struts between them, widely spaced single rafters and a coffered ceiling (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
