A Hall Moved from Another Religion
The Renjoji Temple Main Hall is the main hall of a Shin Buddhist temple facing south in a precinct on the hillside of Kinosaki Onsen (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It is the Kakumeiden, built in 1933 for the Tanshu branch of the Omoto religion, moved here and given a porch and lean-to; its roof is framed with king-post trusses.
Because a row of rooms was added on the west, the porch sits off centre, and a bell-shaped window at the west end gives the exterior its character (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
Why It Was Registered
The Agency registered it for its contribution to the historic landscape.
