Kitaoji Rosanjin Former Residence Storehouse

The Storehouse at the West of the Plot

The Kitaoji Rosanjin Former Residence Storehouse (北大路魯山人寓居土蔵) is a two-storey storehouse of 1890 in Yamashiro Onsen, Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on April 24, 2001 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The Agency records a two-storey earthen-walled storehouse with a galvanized iron roof and a building area of 26 square metres; registration number 17-0042.

A Storehouse at the West End

The Kitaoji Rosanjin Former Residence Storehouse stands at the west end of the plot, its ridge at right angles to the main house. It is a two-storey gabled storehouse running north to south, 4 bays by 2 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Doorways open on the north and east, with a small window on the south (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The Agency record gives the roof as galvanized iron in its structure field and as pantiles in its commentary.

Why It Was Registered

The Agency notes that, with the main house, it is cherished as a building linked with Rosanjin, and registered it for its contribution to the historic landscape.

What to Look For

Look at how its ridge runs at right angles to the main house, and at the doorways on the north and east (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Visiting
