The Agency records a single-storey timber building with a slate roof and a building area of 295 square metres; registration number 03-0023.

The Workshop and the Boiler-Room Tank

The Sekinoichi brewery stands by the Iwai River, on part of the former quarter of the middle and lower samurai of the Ichinoseki domain (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Sato Tokuzo of Surisawa Village bought the Kumabun brewery and rebuilt it, to designs by his cousin Obara Yusuke, a pupil of Tatsuno Kingo.

The former workshop and boiler room, of 1919, is a single-storey timber building between the former rice store and mill and the former brewing storehouse (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It has been converted into a Japanese-style dining hall, but the roof frame of the old workshop keeps its first form.

Its entrance was made from the reinforced-concrete water tank of the old boiler room, and keeps the shape of the original gable (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Why It Was Registered

The Agency registered it as a structure that would not be easy to reproduce.
