Okinawa Hotel

The Okinawa Hotel (沖縄ホテル) in Daido, Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, north-east of Asato Station, has operated since before the war; its brick building of around 1949 and its guest wing of 1961 became Registered Tangible Cultural Properties on March 6, 2024 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The Two Buildings

The brick building at the south-east of the site is a two-storey gabled structure with a reinforced-concrete frame on the ground floor and brick above, a rare survivor from the beginnings of hotels in postwar Okinawa (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The guest wing is a three-storey reinforced-concrete building on a U-shaped plan open to the west, with an atrium entrance hall in the centre and rooms in the north and south wings; its sunshades and hollow-block walls and balconies show its architect's hallmarks (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Each building is described on its own page.

Visiting

Both are owned by Okinawa Hotel Co., Ltd. (Agency for Cultural Affairs). No official information on the hotel's operation or on visits was found.
