Registered Tangible Cultural Properties of Shizuoka

Office of the head of the Hōkō-ji branch of Rinzai Zen, joined to the Great Kuri by a covered passage. With the Shika-ryō it forms the working quarters. Registered 2019.

Joined to the Founder’s Hall, this small copper-roofed votive hall honours the founder Mumon Gensen, with packed bracketing and carved beams. Registered 2019.

A one-bay-square, skirt-base bell tower east of the Main Hall plaza, set on a cobblestone platform, its open upper level held by two-stepped brackets. Registered in 2019.

A south-facing meditation hall below a bluff, with a Bodhidharma image on its diagonal earthen floor and tatami platforms on both sides. Registered 2019.

A single-bay Kōrai gate facing south at the entrance to the approach, doorless with wing walls to either side, built of fine timber. Registered 2019.

A long kuri of 513 square metres east of the Main Hall, its central karahafu porch and hip-and-gable projections forming a bold face. Registered 2019.

A guest entrance joined to the Main Hall’s west face, with a front-facing karahafu tile roof and a chrysanthemum crest reflecting the temple’s imperial-prince founder.

Joined to the worship hall, this hall enshrines the guardian Hansōbō, said to have saved the founder at sea. It survived the 1881 fire. Registered 2019.

The Mishima Koyomishi no Yakata in Mishima, Shizuoka is a museum housed in the former residence of the Kawai family, who produced the Mishima Calendar—Japan's oldest printed kana-script calendar—for fifty generations. The building, a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property reconstructed from a checkpoint station after the 1854 Ansei Earthquake, features exhibits of woodblock plates and calendar artifacts, plus a free hands-on printing experience.

Spanning the Ayuzawa River in Oyama Town, Shizuoka, Morimura Bridge is a 39-metre steel truss completed in 1906 as a private trolley bridge for the Fuji Spinning Company. Designed by the Japanese engineer Akimoto Shigematsu and built at the Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipyard, it is one of the earliest domestically designed truss bridges in Japan and the oldest of its kind in the Chubu region. Listed as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2005, its 2020 restoration won the prestigious Tanaka Prize.

Yomeikan is a two-story wooden villa built in 1939 in the sukiya architectural style, located in Momoyama-cho, Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Originally commissioned as a private retreat by Takeji Tanabe, president of Honshu Paper Company, it features a tower-like second floor with ornamental railings and an elegant Japanese-Western hybrid design. Registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property in 2019, Yomeikan offers sweeping views of Sagami Bay and preserves the refined craftsmanship of Atami's golden era of modern villa architecture.

Standing on the banks of the Matsukawa River in Ito, Shizuoka, Ryokan Inaba is a three-story wooden hot spring inn built in the late Taisho era and registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 1998. Famous for its dome-shaped tower nicknamed the 'aburazashi,' polished zelkova floors, a 53-tatami great hall, and tanuki-shaped bath spouts, it now welcomes travelers as the heritage guesthouse K's House Ito Onsen.
