A Fireproof Sutra Store of 1934
The Genmyoji Temple Sutra Repository (玄妙寺経蔵) is a reinforced-concrete sutra repository of 1934 in Mitsuke, Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on December 19, 2014 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a single-storey reinforced-concrete building with a tiled roof and a building area of 13 square metres; registration number 22-0196.
Concrete Finished to Look Like Stone
The Genmyoji Temple Sutra Repository stands in the south-east corner of the precinct, facing west: a reinforced-concrete store under a gabled roof of cement tiles (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Its walls are finished in washed artificial stone with pilasters and an eaves cornice, scored with joints to imitate masonry. A door at the front and a window on the north side, both with canopies, are closed by iron shutters.

The Agency calls it a fine prewar example of a concrete sutra store built with fire resistance in mind, and registered it as a model of design.
