Creative Space Akarenga (former stacks of the Yamaguchi Prefectural Yamaguchi Library) (クリエイティブ・スペース赤れんが（旧山口県立山口図書館書庫）) is a brick library stack building of 1918 in Nakagawara, Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on September 2, 1998 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The Agency records a two-storey brick building with a building area of 141 square metres; registration number 35-0020.

An Extra Stack for the Prefectural Library

Creative Space Akarenga is a two-storey brick building put up as an extra book stack for the Yamaguchi Prefectural Library, which had opened in 1903 (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The finish of its gable end suggests that further extensions were planned.

It was designed by the official who supervised the building of the new prefectural office (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Why It Was Registered

The Agency notes that the building, known locally as the red-brick house, was saved and reborn as an art space in 1992, and registered it as a model of design.
